Hello, 2022
Hello, 2022!
I bet you're already rolling your eyes at all the "New Year, New Me" posts. I've decided to be honest with myself - and with my readers. My motto is - and I've come accept - "New Year . . . same hot mess"
I know me - I'm going to have days of writers block. I'm going to overschedule myself and run myself into the ground with a full plate until I burn out and retreat into myself like a turtle. I'm going to have unfinished projects. I'm going to have regrets and be mad I didn't stick to my goals.
Well, at least that was 2021 me. I plan to go into 2022 with a new outlook. A complete revamped perspective. I will give myself grace on the days I fall short of meeting less than my goal or nothing at all. I'm going to document this journey each day. Of course, there will be days where I have absolutely zero time to write, but my goal is to still write something or do one thing for my business. Give my readers a glimpse into my crazy world. Thoughts of the day. Something. I want to commit to doing something, anything for my business at least once a day. This blog will keep me writing. Keep me accountable to this journey for me to look back on. I will work on unfinished projects to get them ready for publication. I try to will make TikToks. I will try to market and advertise on social medias. I will try to read material that helps me grow. I AM committing myself to growing as an author in 2022. Whatever that means, however that looks . . . I'm inviting you to come along.
On those days I just can't write, for whatever reason, I hope to will post a blog about life in general. Daily thoughts. Updated goals. Just something and anything to help me be more seen online. To invite you - my readers, my fellow authors - into my world and show you who I am. I hope aim to learn from this, grow from this, and find some successes with this.
Full disclosure, most blogs will be about something or another. My life, my writing, my general thoughts. They will NOT be edited. Prepare to find some typos, especially if I'm writing a blog up on my phone while waiting for my son to get out of jujitsu. I'm determined not to let myself get sucked into the usual vices that take me away from writing. Mainly too much scrolling Facebook or binge watching Netflix. I've been thinking about how my 2022 is going to look . . . how it'll be different than past years. Here's what I've come up with.
- More people will recognize my name and/or books
- I'll see my sales increase by my marketing and social media presence
- I'll see my social media interactions increase and new followers I'll gain
- I'll see more reviews on my work
- I'll look back at this year in December 2022 and realize I did it. I succeeded in these things and know it's accomplishable. Then I'll prepare for 2023 and do it all over again.
I reflected on 2021 and I realize I cannot dwell on my mistakes, should of could of would of, fears, insecurities, and failures. Instead, I'll learn from them and grow. I'll do better. I'll try harder. I'll push myself more. 2022 will be the year of consistency, which is why I chose consistent as my word of the year for 2022.
I only fail if I give up. I refuse to fail. I will make 2022 my year. So, who's ready for this Rollercoaster? Buckle up buttercup, because it's going to be one heck of a ride!
Shares, comments, and reactions tremendously appreciated. Help me get seen!
💗 Lauren
